The data concentrator collects realtime data and sends these data to realtime applications or to data storage (eg, database, reserve historical data) at a regular time. The function modules of the data center include control and data analysis, EMS, energy conservation, risk and outage management, etc. The specifications of hardware should meet future expansion and avoid overlapping investments. Furthermore, a global position system (GPS) is required for data synchronization. The data center layer includes the data concentrator, database servers, LAN, and information security isolation equipment. In this study, we use a GPS clock with IRIG-B outputs.
PDC TO STANDARD TIME CODE
The Inter-Range Instrumentation Group (IRIG-B) time code is widely accepted for time distribution in substations. Inaccurate time-stamps can cause misdiagnosing of the network and degrade the controllability of the distribution network. Synchrophasor measurements time referencing critical applications, such as fault-event analysis and protection relays, require highly reliable satellite clocks. The collected data is also stored in a large database system for accurate post-mortem applications, such as fault-event monitoring, loss of mains, and blackout analysis. This enables comparable real-time monitoring of the system with high-precision sampling.

The collected data from a number of PMUs are sorted and correlated according to the time-stamp value. The deployed PMUs in the system send acquired data with time-stamp information to the PDC.
